Hard Drive drastical health change

Yesterday I turned my laptop on and it worked fine as usually. The problem happend when I turned it on about an hour ago when I heard not that usual sound from HDD. To be sure I downloaded HD Sential and it says my HDD Health=27%. Just two days ago I tested it and it was 100%. I really think that until now it was on 100% all the time and I can not understand how health drop could be that huge in period of couple of hours.

Is a highly fine tuned mechanism, anything off by micrometers and that's it. Backup data and move on.

No, I didn't. Just between last shutdown and power on that happend.

Hi there Bogdan Baljozovic,

Unfortunately, mechanical drives just fail. In many cases, even without a warning. This is why, you should always keep your most important data stored on at least two places.

If the drive is still accessible, my suggestion would be to back up all the data stored on it.

I guess this is caused by bad sectors right? Look for Pending/Reallocated/Uncorrectable sectors.

In case the drive is under warranty, you can just RMA it. In case it is not, I guess you will need to get another one.
