hi every one! i have 1tb external hard drive silicon power armor, although the company said this is anti-shock, but last nigh it fell from 10 cm or even less. but it started to make noise like fast tiking and after that the blue light of ext.hdd turned off and the noise stopped too. after that i try many thing but nothing useful. i know how to recover my data, but my main problem is that my camputer (macbook & windows pc) could not recognize my hard drive!!! any soloution?
plz don't answer me "buy another drive" or "u should remember to not drop ur hard drive" or something like these... thank you very very much. for helping me.

Solution
I doubt that this would happen. The guys working in such companies are professionals.
Yet, it would be a good idea to contact the manufacturer, so you can find out which are the trusted data recovery partners.

If this is an external HDD than it is most likely an internal laptop of desktop HDD inside an enclosure. You could try removing the HDD from the enclosure and connect to your PC to take the enclosure out of the equation.

Hi there sarcophagus,

Well, mechanical drives are vulnerable to shocks/hits. If the data stored on the drive is really important, you need to contact a data recovery company. Most of the HDD manufacturers offer their own data recovery services or have some trusted partners. You can check that out.

If you want to go with that option, don't open up the drive as you will expose the platters to a dust contaminated environment. Also, do not put it in a freezer.

thank you "savage pc" for paying attention and giving me a solution. as i said i tried many things even though exchanging the "sata bridge" part of my ext.hdd. not working!

i appreciate for helping me "D_Know_WD"
ur right but my data is very important. not for me, for the company that i work for. is there any chance that the recovery company want to steal any of this informations?
in this case i rather to have a dead hdd! :|
