Hi all. I have a quick question and just wanted some quick feedback. My hard drive recently failed. It make the clicking noise of death. I removed the hard drive from the computer to try to mount it as an external. The drive shows up but every time I try to access it the computer hangs. I opened the hard drive up in a clean room to see if there was noticable damage to the platters and there was no physical damage.

I just wanted thoughts on possible solutions to access the drive and what could possibly be the cause of my problem before sending the drive to a data recovery center?

I'm not expert in this but I'm pretty sure your armature has almost worn out and become irreparably unusable. Unless you have parts and the skill to find and fix it, I think you need 'hard' data recovery :/
