Question hard drive in docking station making droning noise ?

i have a 4 tb hard drive in a orico docking station.

I have been using it like this for about 2 years.

Yesterday i noticed either the drive or the docking station is making a somewhat subtle, ongoing, metallic sounding (if that makes sense) droning noise.

I noticed that it does not start right away, it only starts after the docking station has been turned on for a few hours.

The disk can be idle while the noise is happening. Once the noise starts it does not stop until i turn the PC off.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

the hard drive is a 4tb rebadged Hitachi HUS724040ALE640
I think it actually says "surveillance drive" on the label, or something to that effect
