hard drive issues

i plugged my 1 tb portaBle hard drive in with a universal plug in and didnt set how much power to use and it like fried it, it went tssss and smoked, i blew on it and it stoped smoking. i found the right power cord for it, though now it lights up but doesnt load or show up on my blu ray player. i have my whole life on tgis thing and it breaks my heart thinking of the simple fact that one little mistake may have cost me all those memories. its a WD 1tb. im kind of computer illiterate so please keep it as simple as possible

well it toasted. your drive maybe recovered or ak as long as only the adpator is toasted. have pc tech take a look.
