Question Hard Drive Just Went Missing

Hi,

My HDD (4TB) just went missing.

It was working fine up until a few hours ago. With no warning... gone. I opened and checked disk management, doesn't show up. I restarted the PC, and I don't think it showed up on the boot list (SATA port #3, I suspect).

Has it failed? Overheated? Failed Cable?

The sata or even power cable is more of a reasonable guess..
Try with different sata cable... or check if the existing one is connected properly...

Check bios. If it doesn’t show there the drive is dead

Seems to have fixed itself... I had the PC turned off for a short time, and when I booted it up again, the drive was back.

Check the SMART report with a tool such as CrystalDiskInfo or GSmartControl. Look for reallocated, pending or uncorrectable sectors.

I would take this opportunity to backup your important data.
