hard drive missing while installing windows7

in my ASUS k54h laptop, harddrives are missing while installing windows 7 it. unable to install. what to do?

Is it brand new laptop?
Did you had any other OS preinstalled on it? Linux of some kind?

are you installing it with sdd?, also is the HDD showing on the bios?. if your hdd is not showing on the bios then you got a problem, its either dead or faulty.
