i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong.

i manage to get my samsung 850 evo drive in the mail along with a usb 3.0 to sata/ide connector, specifically a sabrent hard drive enclosure, and for some strange reason, the drive does not show up on my pc at all. computer management doesn't pick it up cmd cannot find it, and bios only shows to name of the sata connector and not the ssd itself. i then tried to get a different hard drive to load, and i used two different computers to load the drives, same result. there has been absolutely no mention of any of the drives being formatted, and i cannot find any way of making them visible on my pc. i was once able to get one of the drives to show up on a third party app, but when i tried to format it, it simply stated that there was a read/write error, even though i know that the drives that i've been using are fine. when i plug them in, i can even hear one of the drives spinning, but it just won't load...

That's weird! Silly hard drive I guess... Could be a faulty connector? Anyway if you really want to rule out that it's the hard drive that doesn't work, plug it in directly to a motherboard in a computer and test. Other than that, I'm glad it all worked out! :)

I would try to get away from the SATA connector. Do you have a way to connect directly into a SATA mobo slot?

I used to have a USB to SATA connector that did a similar thing. It wasn't a sabrent, the one i'm using now is. Just get another one, you probably got a lemon. It should have some warranty either with the store you bought it from or with sabrent. :)

unfortunately no. i have no other way to tell if the drives are working or not.

i had just got another connector today actually, but it is still not working. at this point, i'm all out of ideas.

nevermind. it turns out that the traditional drive that i have appears to be inaccessible, but i was able to get the ssd to work. i guess switching from a different sata connector worked for my ssd. strange that the traditional drive doesn't appear to work even though i can hear it running...
