Hard Drives Clicking

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and all of a sudden my hard drives will make a clicking sound when ever I access them. Also, sometimes right when I click on a drive it will click and pause while it's loading the folders I'm trying to access. I know this problem is due to Windows 7. I switched back to xp just to make sure and I didn't encounter any clicking from my drives. I have a total of 5 internal drives, all of which are in great health and perform well. I assume I have to configure my bios some how to make my drives run more smoothly with windows 7?

Corsair 520w HX

I'm not sure about the rest of the windows users but the only reason I use it is because people dont make nearly as much software for linux as they do for windows. I personally think windows 7 is very glitchy.

none of my hdd's click

1 did a year ago but thats becasue the drive was purchased and installed in 05/06

bets way to tell is to actually use a bootcd and stress test them, if they click then you know thats the problem and xp just isnt maxing out drive performence

win7 isnt that glitchy really at all

people just try running xp software on win7 and thats why you have problems,

and there is loads of programs for linux, much more than there is for windows, you just need to know where to go.

and if you know what you are doing you can find and install apps in debian for instance by using the "apt-get" command to install them

So you are saying Win7 is maxing out my drives, therefore, causing them to click when I access them?

I also have this problem, at first I thought I had a faulty drive.But it happened on another pc with a brand new hdd, is there a fix for this?, I don't wanna go back to vista or xp.

dudes, simply go Linux and dual boot its insanely easy, everything is created automatic

And upgrade to SSDs regardless of the OS

changed my power options "turn off hdd after" "20mins" to "never".
seems to be working. haven't had a click yet.
