An I still wonder why mobo makers keep putting IDE and SATA connector on the same motherboard.. I keep wonder how peoples can install OS on SATA HDD with IDE optical drives..

Seriously...

Pat's making fun of you, you can have any combination of drives you choose.

I find it a problem. When I go to install Windows. Setup reconizes my 80GB IDE hard drive as the first drive (C:) and my SATA RAID array of Raptors as the secondary drives (D:) So when I install I have to disconnect my 80GB so Windows installs C: on the Raptors. After Windows is installed I plug the 80GB back in. A pain.

My System:

My BIOS orders the drives so windows detects SATA1 or IDE1 first, depending on which is set as bootable in BIOS.

But I have other means to other ends, such as disabling one of the IDE controllers in BIOS, so that I don't have to climb inside the box.
