Hard wire security camera using smoke detector.

Is it possible to hard wire a security camera using the power from the smoke detector? If yes, could someone walk me through how you would do it?

Clarifications:
I bought a wireless security camera that needs to have power supplied to it and wanted to know if it was possible to hard wire it to the power my smoke detector is using and basically just mount it next to the smoke detector. I am not an electrician or carpenter and would like to avoid having to run more wires through walls and having it plugged in to an outlet seems like it could easily be unplugged.

Most smoke detectors have a 9V battery and no wiring.

If it's hardwired, it might be possible, but it would depend on the model. There's also likely to be legal issues with it - smoke detectors are safety devices, and you may need a permit if it's a large building.

You may be able to put an outlet in the ceiling space next to a light without much difficulty.

A smoke detector is either 9v, or house wired.

Obviously, 9v won't work.
House wired? I would NOT want to compromise the function of the smoke detector to power a camera.

This is why I really don't like these WiFi security cameras.
1. WiFi? Why increase the attack surface of your security system?
2. It needs to be powered anyway, involving a wire. So why bother with WiFi?

It's a violation of the national electric code. And you'd have to use a walwart as the smoke detector is 120V and the camera is 12V. So no.
