So I bought everything I needed to build a new pc, except the hard-drive because I was going to re-use it...
Now it just came to my understanding I would have to buy a new copy of windows... Unfortunately I have spent my whole budget...
Is there a way to wipe all my drivers, keep windows, and boot my new pc?
I have a new Mobo, Cpu, Memory, Gpu, and power supply...

Edit: my hardrives comp is an Asus Essentio

If the OS came with the PC, and it is 8.1, then it is an OEM license.
As such, it is tied to that original system/motherboard.

You will need to purchase a new license for your new system.

What OS is this?

2 considerations, OPeration and Licensing.

Operation - Will it or will it not boot up with the new hardware? Unknown. It might, or it might fail completely.
If it does not, it will require a complete reinstall.

Licensing - Depending on what OS and license, it may require a whole new OS.

So...what do you have?

If you had a prebuilt ASUS computer, most probably it would be a OEM Windows licence, and you would need a new Windows Licence, because of the new motherboard.
You could consider using linux which is free.

thank you both, it is windows 8.1, it came preinstalled on my comp and I have no clue how to check my licensing... If there is a way, let me know and I will find out :)

If worst case scenario happens: is linux easy to use and can I game on it like I would windows?
