Hardrive replacement compatibility?

Replacing my laptop HDD which has smart failure error so I can sell the laptop.

I am using Toshiba MK5065GSX 500GB

I am looking at purchasing Toshiba MQ01ABF050 500GB SATA3 5400RPM

I think it should be compatible? but i want to make sure before i purchase. Thanks.

Yes it should work just fine. Pretty much any 2.5in with a hight of 0.4in or less SATA Hard Drive or SSD should work just fine.

should i just put in a 120gb ssd before I sell it?

I see macbook pro's with 120gb hard drives that are worth a lot of $$.

Mackbook pro's cost a lot just because they are macs not because of the hardware or performance. A SSD in any laptop will make it more responsive and add some value to it but probably not as much as the SSD it self costs if I had to guess.
