[SOLVED] Hardware not being powered after cpu change

Hey guys,

I looked around a bunch online and tried a lot of suggestions but nothing seemed to work for me. Long story short, after installing a new cpu (and taking out the old watercooling which required taking out the motherboard), my PC will not power gpu or cpu (fans not working). On top of that after turning the power on it will take several tries before the computer tries to boot, the case fans will spin for a second then it powers down. I've tried just using 1 stick of ram in different slots, moved gpu to a new slot, ensured 8 pin and 24 pin power things are plugged in securely. It's been a long while since I have built/upgraded a PC and could just be forgetting something silly but I've been stuck for the better part of 48H trying to get it working. Any advice would be much appreciated.

What are the complete specs, includimg the old cpu and new?

Motherboard: GA-Z170x Gaming 7
GPU: GTX 1650 super 128-bit
CPU: i5-9400F
RAM: DDR4 3000MHz 16GB(2x8gb) x2
PSU: not sure exactly, but is labelled "THUNDER 600W"

old cpu: i7 6700k

Its a coolermaster psu which isn't great but its not the issue.

The issue is that cpu is incompatible with that motherboard
The socket layout is the same but the pinout isn't .

H310, b360, z390 for that series of intel cpu.

Also the 9400f ISN'T an upgrade over a 6700k!

Yes I'm aware, but the 6700k was the problem so a new cpu was needed and the money was tight so a cheaper one was needed. And damn I didn't realise there were different pin types in the same series motherboard (since it said it was LGA-1151 compatible). Thanks for the help
Edit: 6700k installed and pc seems to be working, will have to test it with gaming. Looks like it may have just been the water cooling all along causing issues
