Hey guys, I have been having this problem for some time now and have yet to find any real solutions anywhere. I have found that apparently many people are having the same issue, but for different reasons. Randomly throughout the day I will hear a constant "bing" noise as if I were disconnecting a USB device. This will go on for about 5 minutes or so then stop randomly. I have checked all of my external and internal connections on my rig and everything is connected. So I believe it is a software issue. I have checked hardware and devices as the anomoly occured and all that happens is a refresh and thats it, nothing to indicate a solution. I have heard that disabling the finger reader device will fix the problem, however there is no such device installed physically nor drivers installed. If you could please help me out that would be great. Thanks.

Solution
Let's try to reduce possible causes:

You said that the "bing" noise sounds exactly as if you were disconnecting a USB device, so please unplug all of your USB devices, and disable the USB support in your BIOS.

Does the problem shows up again?

I've had the same at odd times and have been unable to find the culprit, I find restarting the pc seems to clear it. Unfortunatly it's too random and few and far between instances to find the cause.
I use a wireless kb and mouse and wonder if it's loosing the signal intermittently.

Thanks for the info, I did as you said and the noise stopped. I actually have a sneaking suspicion that it is a short in my usb keyboard. I am going to replace it soon and see what happens. Thank you for your quick response.
