I am still using my old Silverstone Temjin TJ03 case which I purchased in 2007. The front panel has the following ports: USB 2.0 x 4, IEEE1394 x 1, Audio x 1 and MIC x 1. Has anyone ever had this case and upgraded the USB ports to USB 3.0? I do not need the IEEE port. I have already added a card reader that has one USB 3.0 port, but why not add more if I can? My mobo is an EVGA Z170 Classified K with a 6700K CPU so it has a USB 2.0 and 3.0 header. I have seen a company called Aerocooler has upgrade kits but they are for other Silverstone cases. Ideas anyone?

While searching for a case mod doesn't turn up anything, searching for USB 3.0 headers to Type A female adapters will get you something. For example, you can get something like https://www.ebay.com/itm/1Pc-Mother...ype-A-Female-Port-HUB-AdapteFEH-/333683849972 or http://www.cablesonline.com/usb3020iccmo.html (not sure if the spacing is close enough) and one of these https://www.amazon.com/Extension-JoyReken-Internal-Extender-Motherboard/dp/B08KY5RK67/, then just use adhesive or something to mount the ports on the case.

I'm presuming the front panel stuff is on a single PCB so you may lose the other ports if you go this route.

You'll need to reinvent the wheel. Can't just adapter the wiring to a single usb3 because a 2.0 port has 5 wires connection, a 3.0 has 9.

So you'd need a physical replacement port and it's attached wiring.

Depending on whether those ports are standalone or part of a pcb will determine exactly what can and cannot be done.

There's probably plenty of ppl whom have modded their usb ports over, but every case is different, so without finding a modder having done the exact mod, in the exact case, anyone else doesn't really apply.

My first and main question was "Has anyone ever had this case and upgraded the USB ports to USB 3.0? ". So yes, as you said, " finding a modder having done the exact mod, in the exact case " was exactly what I was looking for. That might be unlikely, but on a big forum like this, I do not think it is unreasonable to ask. You and the first person to respond are obviously not those people. :)

I've done plenty of mods, on some unlikely cases, so I'm just saying it's a stab in the dark, especially with such a relatively old case, that makes it worse. Most ppl wanting usb3 connectivity simply bought a new case when they upgraded the pc to obtain it.

As you say, can't hurt to ask, but even surfing this site, Linus, reddit, Google and Bing, I came up empty for anyone modding that temjin. Aluminium isn't exactly the easiest or most forgiving medium to work with, so I'm guessing that case mods were kept to a severe minimum to begin with.
