Basically long story short I bought 2 different Ram sticks and tried them and it didn't work so I STUPIDLY messed around taking ram stick out when the pc was on ( Ik really stupid) and then it cut out . I basically put this explanation on another thread and someone said I could of fried my cpu . But all of the lights are on including the cpu fan and gpu fan . The orange light is on to signal the motherboard is on however the monitor instantly recognises when I unplug the hdmi cable but it just says "no hdmi signal " and goes black so I'm guessing that it's not posting

Question 1 : will the pc even turn on without a working cpu inside it
Question 2 : have I basically fried my ram by messing around with it when it was on and that's why it turns black because it's not posting as it doesn't recognise the ram stick as it's fried

put back the ram, with the pc turned off, alwaysways off

then turn it on

if it doesn't respond, remove both all ram, turn on pc without ram, wait for the beeps of no ram or no beeps if it doesn't have a speaker and turn off, put ram back and try again

the cpu working is required to generate a image on the screen, together, one part working and the other don't, no go

can you test the ram module on another pc? do you have another ram to test on that mainboard?

usually who suffers on a situation like this is the mainboard, not the cpu and ram, ram is very resistant

So the chance of the cpu being fried is pretty dam low considering that gpu fan is and cpu fans spinning and the orange light on the cpu is spinning. Also the monitor also recognises when the hdmi cable is plugged out ( it just goes to the blue hdmi screen saying there's no signal and it goes off ) I am right??

i point to the mainboard and then the ram here

it is very rare to kill a cpu like this, i haven't experienced myself in 20 years but dead mainboards, lots of them, i have a closet with 5 of them, using them as capacitor donors for other maiboard with similar capacitors 😀

So basically I've killed my motherboard . I know, noob mistake . ( how would the cpu and gpu fans still be spinning, is it because I've killed parts of the motherboard not all of it .

Getting slightly confused,
So basically it could be that the motherboard or ram that has been fried by me messing with it when it was on . Secondly the chance of the cpu being fried would be pretty damn low .
Correct ???

if you have it this clear, why you feel confused?

lets hope it is the ram, mainboard dead is a pita to change and surely will be simpler for you to buy a new combo, ram, mainboard and cpu, sell the parts that survived your magic trick and forget the problem

i don't think it is the ram, mainboard could be in a paranoia state, try the clear cmos i mentioned, put back ram and try again, if doesn't work, try the ram in another pc and in the pc with the problem put new ram, if it refuses to boot, could be the mainboard, the cpu is the last thing i would think as a suspect of a death for this situation, not impossible but i would give it 5% of possibilities of be dead

question 1 No u need a new CPU
question 2 yes you should never touch any components especially when the computer is still on im guessing you are a novice

how would the cpu have been fried i only messed with the ram . cpus are pretty damn resilient and other people who have had 20 years of experience in pc building said the chance of this occuring would be under 5% on another thread
