Have a GA-X79-UD5, What is The MAX CPU Upgrade

Hello, I have a GA-X79-UD5 with Core i7-3820 3.6 GHz, Windows 10 Pro and 16 GB memory. I don't need to upgrade the whole computer just need to Know the fastest CPU I can put in it. I get conflicting info when searching. Guess the sites have only old data. Most say i7-4960k and some go all the way to i7-6950X 10 core. Both are LGA 2011/Socket R like my motherboard. What is the fastest someone here has put in, or if anyone has any input?

Core i7-4960X is the "max" CPU that is compatible with the board.

It's LGA2011. The 6950X is 2011-3 , not interchangeable.

You can't use any CPU other than those mentioned in your Motherboard's web page (linked above). The maximum you can go for is Core i7-4960X.

Thanks Srimasis, I was looking for the Xeon lineup. The 1650v2 and 1660v2 Xeons are mighty good and can utilize ECC Ram for workstations.
