I have a gigabyte MB that supports LGA 1366 and and Intel I7/870 that is a LGA 1155. Probably a stupid question but will they work together?

Solution
No. The sockets are not interchangeable.

Solution

Thank You both very much. Rather than change from my i7/870, I ordered a replacement MB. (Gigabyte).

I am sure that there is good reason for that but it just does not look like it from here. Oh well. It serves as a good reminder to double check the CPU/MB combination and make sure the socket specs are the same. Thanks to All who responded. I do appreciate it. :)
