Have a new gaming desktop and need help with my 2nd monitor.

Hey so i got a new gaming desktop about 6 or 8 months ago and I have one monitor hooked up with the hdmi to the graphics card which is a gtx 950 but I need to hook up a 2nd monitor and the only other hdmi port i have is an the mobo and I don't know how to activate the other monitor. I have tried to go into my settings but it cant find the monitor. btw I have windows 10 and I don't know what mobo because this is a prebuilt.

The onboard graphics are probably disabled, many motherboards do that when a video card is added. Use a converter to HDMI for whatever other connections the 950 has or use a different connection to the monitor.
