I wanted to pull both disks out and keep so that I can place them back in if there were a failure to what I am about to attempt.
Step 1 - Pull existing Disks out.
Step 2 - Put two identical Disks in same two Drive bays.
Step 3 - Build new Raid 1 for new disk while retaining the original Raid 1 config on the Raid controller.
Step 4 - Image new Disk pair with Newer OS and install 3rd party software that is needed.
Step 5 - Remove the new drives and place original drives in if new image and software have issues.
My concern is that the original Disks will no longer be recognized as the Raid 1 that they were originally configured as and I would lose my original config and environment if the new drive image went south.
Any thoughts to if I am looking at a total disaster with this pattern of thinking?
I have backups but wanted to use this method so I can have the system back up very quickly.
