Ok so I've got X amount of 1600 Kingston ram in my computer, and I bought another one today, Same specs, price and everything, But here's the problem, The RAM I bought looks like this:

But when I opened my computer case I discovered my RAM actually looks like this!:

So is this RAM I bought actually for a desktop computer? Or have I been ripped off? And if it is will it work properly? Also why is my new one shorter than the others?

Quick responses would be appreciated because I don't want to try sticking it in my computer without knowing its safe.

it's like mcmenu... never get what you see there, all you need to care about is if they are the same clock and the same capacit .. 1600MHZ & 4GB..2 GB etc....... and of course technology, for example DDR2 and DDR3 if they are different you can't even place it on the motherboard...... the presentations sometimes variate.

What do you mean by "Low profile"? as in Lower quality?

As in shorter...

Well does that means its better, worse or the same?

It doesn't mean anything in terms of quality. Both versions are equally as good. ss202sl gave a good example of why shorter PCBs (the circuit board) are used. What matters are the chips on the PCB and they appear to be the same on both versions.

Well that's good to know, Thanks for all your answers and thank you for clearing my suspicions.

Ok then I guess I'll give it a try, 32GB HERE I COME!

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate.

Also I tried the RAM and it works! So thanks again for all your help guys!

Just one more thing, If i install the Low profile ram in a slot tied with the normal ram, Will I have any problems? Or is it ok to do so?
