I have been using my webcam as a continuous feed security camera. Have tried a couple of "paid for" software products and use a lot of space and don't perform extremely well. Am currently using ooVoo (chat), but it is not really dependable and was certainly not intended for this type of use. I need to be able to view from a couple of monitors at the same time, using SOMETHING that doesn't eat up space on my computers. I don't care if it records or not. I can always add an external drive for the recording if it has a record feature. I don't mind paying for the software, but I can't afford much. We have a very small business and, in this economy, we have to be very careful with our expenses. As an extra (asking for the moon), I'd like to be able to glance at the camera feed from my iPhone. Can anyone help?

Hi,

You might want to try out GotoCamera's free webcam software. GotoCamera is EASY to set up and easy to use.
All you need is a webcam (a USB webcam such as those made by Logitech, Creative, etc, or even the webcam integrated into your netbook / notebook) and a Windows PC (XP and above), and you’re ready to start. Once your camera is set up, you can turn on recording schedules, configure motion detection, share your camera with friends and family, and access it from any browser, including your iPhone.
The good thing is that all recording is on the GotoCamera servers so your PC's disk space is not wasted and so that you can login from anywhere in the world and have access to your Archives.
GotoCamera offers a free 1 week trial where you can use upto 2 cameras to record. If you wish to upgrade, it costs less than $4 a month! Completely affordable and sensible for small businesses.

goblinglow - first, thanks! Now I have just a couple of questions. I gather from looking at the website that I can make the software "continuous stream" for a few days and then if I pay the tiny little yearly fee! Can 2 monitors on the same email account view this at the same time? In other words, I have a computer/monitor in my office in the house and one in the kitchen. Both use the same router and the same email address. Can both access the camera at the same time? Do I have GotoCamera software on every computer that accesses the camera? If I have more questions, do you mind me "bugging" you with them? Again, I appreciate your help. A BIG THANKS ----again!

Yes, if you have 2 separate computers running the software linked to one account, you can access the cameras on those computers as well as any other computer that has Internet access and Flash installed.
Hope this helps. And please feel free to ask me any other questions. Would be glad to help :)

Oops, sorry, I checked, and I think I misunderstood what you were looking for... Can you access your camera from more than 1 computer? Yes, and even at the same time. Do you need their software running on all your computers? No. But it's important to understand that GotoCamera doesn't continuously stream video. Only for 5 minutes at a time (you can start it again after the 5 minutes are over). If you're looking for continuous video feeds, GotoCamera might not be right for you. They do offer cloud storage, security alerts, mobile access, etc. I think the best thing to do would be to try their free trial or ask your question in their forums, where someone from their team could respond...?

Thanks for the responses. Both were helpful. After a lot of consideration and research, I am using YAWCAM and, so far, it is working fabulously!! It is nice to know that there are people out there willing to address your problem, so again, THANKS.
