For the past few days i have been having issues with my AT&T service, and rather than call them, i would like to ask for help on here.

My internet for has been stuttering and pauses, the speed is fine but sometimes it will just pause or take forever to load a page.

For example; i usually can download a Steam game and use Skype at the same time easily when this problem is not occurring, but when it is the call will drop and attempt to reconnect frequently, making that impossible, even worse it happens when i try to load any page that takes awhile...and since many pages do that it's rage inducing.

This has happened before, but after a few days it stopped, which is why i have waited around a week to type this up and try to get help, but i really can't deal with this much longer.

I have tried two different modems with no luck at all. I have tried hooking it up in a different room...nothing...tried a different phone cord, and surprise surprise...NOTHING.

Skype works fine with text messaging, i never see the little rotating circle thing at all when sending them, my guess because it hardly uses any bandwidth at all. The only thing that i can see would be the problem is when i look at my log. I see a bunch of

Now i know some of these are normal; but they are spammed VERY VERY frequently in my log.

I have a black Westell modem and AT&T service without a telephone line connected to it. ANY help would be appreciated and if you need any more information then just ask.

Solution
simply call ATT, tell them your issue, dsl is becoming old school, ATT will ask you to change to uverse, and i believe that your problem can be fixed.
most likely, the connection issue is on their side, and your modem where it receives the data from ATT
What you see in the log is (random) hacking attempts - bots trying to probe open ports on the router (or, rather hoping there is Windows PC connected) and trying to take over, there is nothing you should be worried about. They are also far away from DDoS-style attach - an attempt every thirty seconds or so.

My personal experience with AT&T DSL - you have to live with it, or upgrade / switch over. Dealing with their CS will mean "please, restart your PC, your router, your modem" and all this sort of stuff.

What you can try when you see this - check e.g. speednet test, and see how your ping / speeds are, and how they relate to your service. This is (more or less) the only think you can step on when dealing with CS.

Would switch service in a heartbeat if i could; but sadly AT&T is the only internet service i can get for the time being.

I'm sure there has to be some solution though...don't want to have to call AT&T.

Any help at all?

It seems my connection is fine for a second, but then after that it just drops to 0 for 3 or 4 seconds, and then comes back again. It's an endless cycle that is driving me crazy.

Any suggestions on things i could change in my Modem configuration? I'll try calling them on the 27th if not...
