I had the same issue in windows 7, the mic was working fine (headphones are EACH g4000), then i went to vacation and left them untouched for a week. After I got home it got some static and my voice got way more quiter, to the point where I had to touch the mic with my lips to be able to hear myself. I didnt have nor have a sound card. I put the pc on a chair but its still the same problem.
