Having problems with new GPU

CPU-AMD Phenom II black edition
MB-Asrock M3A UCC
PSU- 650w Corsair

So im having problems with my friends gpu a EVGA GTX 750Ti we went to install on the computer but after we finished installing the drivers and went for restart we got a black screen after the windows logo.So we we tried to go back to a previous update without luck. Then we checked to see if it was enabled in the BIOS which it was .We made sure that the amd drivers were deleted .So im now wondering if its the motherboards problem .Is there any way i can find out or does anyone else know what the problem might be.

Also the cards fans are working when turned on and device manager is picking it up in safe mode.

What gtx 750 ti is it? does it need a power connector plugged into it? some do

Its an EVGA gtx750Ti and there was only one 6pin connector too it.

Check to see if your bios is updated to the latest version, then reseat the graphics card

Alright, a few questions just to make sure on whats going on here.

The proper procedure should be the following when installing it, and from the start we will NOT have the graphics card installed.

1) power up computer with display connected to integrated graphics (appropriate port on the motherboard at the rear IO plate)
2) in Windows, install the Nvidia drivers.
3) shut down the computer.
4) install the card. Leave display connected to integrated graphics.
5) start the computer. get into bios.
6) set the graphics preference to the PCIe slot over IGP (this will vary on the exact wording)
7) shut down the computer (after saving bios settings...)
8) switch the display cable to the appropriate GPU port.
9) turn the computer on. It should boot into windows, the new GPU should be detected, and it should load the drivers.
