Question Having trouble trying to install Windows 2K on an old laptop, can anybody help or fix the problem?

So I got an HDD IDE adapter and connected this old laptop's hard drive to my windows 10 computer, and used rufus to install an ISO of windows 2000 on to it and I keep getting this error everytime it boots up, can anybody tell me what to do about this error if possible? here is a link to an image of the error and error at bottom of here

Couldn't Open the boot partition to check for a signature.
SETUPLDR: Couldn't open drive multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)

also want to clarify the HDD is perfectly healthy, i have tested it many times and there are no bad sectors on it and it runs smoothly, here is the laptop im trying this on https://web.archive.org/web/20100528161650/http://www.orphanlaptops.com/n340s8.htm this is kinda the only source with good enough info on the machine i could find.

just gonna ask some basic troubleshooting questions. have you checked the boot disk on another machine to see if you get the same error. i have used rufus with success and failure at times. i also use poweriso, which i have had very good success using. if that seems to check out. are you using a legit iso, whether it is or isnt dosnt matter as long as you can test with another machine to get see if you get the same error or not. also, are you sure the flash drive was formatted to the right boot settings for command boot for your hardware. also, is your computer 32 bit or 64?

another question since i just checked the archive post. are you using a 64bit copy of a windows iso by chance. if so your gonna have to get 32bit to install on that 1 ghz pentium 3.

That's not how you install Windows. Create an installation CD by burning the ISO to CD using Rufus, then use that CD to install Windows. And, you cannot install Windows 2000 on one computer and then move the drive to another.

Something else I recall that could be issue. Didn't the files change from one type to another over that time...IE like Fat32 to something else?
I am not sure the windows files themselves can communicate with each other. This is going off very fuzzy memory about those old file systems.

Yeah, fat32 to ntfs. file system structure.
