Hey guys,
i have an Intel core 2 duo E8500 3.16 GHZ 6MB cache (can be overclocked) in a Gigabyte g41MT-S2P motherboard with ram 6GB DDR3 Kingston.
To start with when i enter bios to overclock my processor up to 4.0 GHZ for example i turned off the easy energy saver technology in the motherboard first then when i try to overclock it to 4.0 GHZ with 1.3V Then i save and exit bios but when i open core temp to check if the frequency nw is 4.0 GHZ i found out that the frequency written is still 3.16 GHZ also when i chose my computer then entered right click then properties it's still 3.16 GHZ also when i entered " dxdiag " in run also written 3.16 GHZ so i want to know if it is overclocked but it doesn't write or something is wrong?
Note:
I use cooler master seidon 120v plus liquid cpu cooler
Thanks <3

Windows properties always show stock freq of your cpu no matter what. Try to use Cpu-Z, it will show you real clocks aswell your nominal freq and realtime clocks on every core.

Hello... Read your BIO's screen for current settings and speed readings... if a BIO's setting was NOT good during BOOT... it will self set back to defaults or last good BOOT settings... Your OC setting failed.
1) what FSB are you trying to run?
2) what is your CPU multiplier?
3) What is your Ram freq?
4) What are ram stick #'s, sizes and settings?

Your MB has only two memory slots... How are you getting 6GB DDR3 ram into it? B /

I have one 4GB and other 2GB :)
