I am planning on getting a HD 4850. Also going to get Coolermaster Extreme Power 600W RP-600-PCAR and an OCZ Vendetta 2. Thinking along the lines of a P5Q-Pro, but not sure. How will this affect my graphics performance?

I have: Q6600 stock, DG31PR , 4 GB DDR2 800, 8600GT 1GB DDR2 OC, Vista HP 32-bit[OEM]

Will my Vista being OEM affect getting a new motherboard?

8600GT is around 110 gigaflops, the 4850 is around 1000 gigaflops. The actual graphical performance I would guess is around a factor of 5-7.

good choice on the 4850. i have one and it is so powerful that most of the games i play are limited by my cpu and it sounds like it will for u as well if your q6600 is at stock speeds. your choice of motherboard affects graphics performance incredibly little so you should be choosing it based on its features. no, your oem vista shouldn't affect your decision on which motherboard to get, again, u should choose based on which features u want in a motherboard

If you are currently using your Vista on your computer and you change MB, yes you may have to call Microsoft as OEM licenses are normally bound to the MB and are not sold to be transferable from one computer to another. You can probably tell them you old MB died and you had to replace it, but you will have to reactivate your Vista.
