my oh my theres so many choices that i'm a little lost about what would be the best performance for money card, bare in mind that I dont want to spend more than £90 -100.

The HD5830 and the HD5850 I linked are the best deals for the money that I'm seeing. Considering your resolution and money issues I would just get the HD5830 unless you think you might upgrade to an HD monitor in the not too distant future.

Hmm I don't think i'll be getting a new monitor anytime soon.
just had a look at the card on afew videos and to my limited knowlege eyes it to big to fit in my case? its a standard sized desktop case

The HD5830 is rather long, 11 inches so you may want to measure how much room you have. Alternately XFX makes a shorter version of the card which is 9.5 inches. It's on Amazon.uk for basically the same price when you figure in shipping(and it apparently comes with Assassin's Creed if you are interested in that);

He is in the UK where the HD5830 is cheaper or the same price as the HD5770.

The 5830 is ok if you are on a very tight budget but personally it is like the gtx465 or the 6790 another cutdown nerfed fodder card. 5770 or a 5850. The 5830 uses the same or slightly more power than a typical stock clocked 5850 and the 5850 out performs it nicely.

Just recieved an email day from EvE online with a 10% discount code for EVGA Gt430, 440, 450 and 460. Which means the 450 will be about the same price as the 5770 and from what I gathered from another thread the 450 and 5770 perform pretty much the same.

No. As I said earlier the GTS 450 is about the same as an HD5750. You would need a model with a large factory OC (925mhz and above) to match an HD5770. I don't think it even could be OCed enough to match an HD5830. The HD5830 should also OC quite well if you are willing to do so(it's quite simple to overclock a video card FYI.) It's really the best choice for the money in your price range from the prices I'm seeing.
Just check out the charts I provided earlier for performance of all these cards.

Thanks for all the information you've all linked and told me about the various cards. I've decided to go for the 5830 from thank link earlier in the thread, it definately does look to be the best bang for buck card in my price range :) I'll post again once I've recieved it in the post :) thanks again fine folk of tomshardware

For the sake of my probably shoddy measurements I'll play it safe and get the xfx card :) there isn't ant performance difference between the differert manufacturers is there? Just warrenty etc?

Yeah, they are the same speed. XFX actually comes with a double life time warranty usually though I'm not sure if that applies to europa. The free game is nice too. Even if you aren't interested you could ebay it for a few bucks.
