The cheapest 5870 on the Scan.co.uk site is 308.81 GBP = 482.796 USD and 399.99 USD = 255.811 GBP which kind of knackers your sketch.

But to get back on topic. 4870's were used in one of the last build articles at Toms, they did it with 130 dollar 4870's. The day the article came out, you could indeed get a 512 4870 at Zipzoomfly(130.00). But even at 260 dollars its a hard argument not to get the 5850,because of situations where crossfire doesn't scale well. The 5850 ain't the 5870 ,its a compromise and getting all the ooomph from one gpu might be the better solution.

I was running an HD 3450 in Hybrid CF with my on-board video but recently replaced that setup with an HD4890, one of the last available apparently. I was thinking of Crossfiring it with a 4870 or 4850 could you comment further on scaling issues, not sure what that means?
