HD 6950 cutting out, then working fine on reboot.

Running 2x Radeon HD 6950s, I suddenly get blank screen, varying in colour. I could be doing anything, doesn't matter what programs I'm running. Windows 8.1, 64bit, AMD Phenom II X6 1075T 3GHZ cpu. No idea what has happened or what to do.

Sounds like at least one of your 6950 GPUs is dying from old age. I'd say your best option is to remove one, run for a while see if it happens again. If it does, switch GPUs try again. If it happens again then try with a different GPU entirely on the off chance both GPUs are dying. If it happens a third time, you know at least both GPUs are fine and it must be some other issue like the motherboard.

Just as I suspected, then.. I'll give it a go and see where that takes me. The GPUs have been troopers, though, I'll say that much for them!

I bet, my Radeon 7850 is a little slower than just one of those and I don't plan to upgrade it for at least another two years 😛
GPUs just seem to last longer now days, these are some fine cards.
