HD 7970 Gigabyte OC or R9 280x Asus?

What card should I buy? Prices are same:
1.Radeon R9 280X DirectCU II TOP 3GB Edition
2. Radeon HD 7970 OC GigaByte Edition

HD 7970 has higher core speed, but R9 280x Asus has higher memory speed. What card is better for gaming?

The HD 7970 might have a higher core speed, but it's still overall a good bit slower than the R9 280x in any aspect.
Go for the R9 280x.

Thanks guys I'm buying used card and HD 7970 has 1 year warranty and R9 280x dosen't have. Is it worth to get R9 280x besides it lacks warranty rather than HD 7970 with warranty?

Well if you dont plan to break it or oc it like hell i'd go for the R9 280x.
Should be fine.

But that's just my opinion.

Exactly, I have no idea why people are saying its faster. its just a re branded card from 2011. With that said, my old Gigabyte 280x was awful in regards to temps. I think the 7970 uses the same cooler. In fact, the my 280x says 7970 on the board but with a sticker over it saying 280x. Get the Asus as it couldn't be worst then the gigabyte running almost 90c. One of the heatpipes started to chip since I replaced the cooler at the time and the heatpipe isn't even copper. Its aluminum with a copper color coat. Performance was good though, the card lasted me a long time and will be fine for 1080p.

It's a little better since it has higher clocks(100Mhz higher core 900Mhz higher memory), both use the same gpu so the performance difference comes down to clock speeds. Also the toxic eats more power so you need to make sure your PSU can handle it.
