HD not dead but cant read data

Hi All

Have a non booting Acer with WD 750 gig sata hd.
Laptop not recognising HD in Bios so attached to Win7 lappy via USB connection. Eventually sees it after disabling and re enabling through device manager but will not access it to get data.

Tried test disk and photorec but they dont see the drive on Win 7
Have then tried it on Win 10 lappy and photorec starts to recover files but stops after 1 hour.
Have also tried Ubuntu on the non working lappy but cant see how to view the HDs.
Any help appreciated.

Truthfully instead of messing around with it i'd send it to a data recover service, hopefully you have backed your stuff up in the past.
