Hello!
I am looking for some help in Migration to a 860 QVO Sata Drive I ran the Samsung data migration tool to move files from my HDD to the SSD. It appeared everything moved correctly. I went into the BIOS and tried to change the setting to boot from the SSD. It does not work. I disconnected the HDD and tried to boot again and I blue screen. I went into device manager and looked at properties and events of the SSD and I get the below. All my BIOS and Chip Set Drivers are current as of last month when I put in a new CPU

Device SCSI\Disk&Ven_Samsung&Prod_SSD_860_QVO_1TB\5&32fdc861&0&050000 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match.

Also I am showing 1 extra partition at 500MB . So looks like I have 3 drives.
I have a ASRock AB350M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard and Ryzen 2600X

Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance!!!

Solution
Yes, something went wrong in the clone process.

Both drives are 1TB?
Return the system to original condition, with only the original drive connected.
Does it boot up properly?

If so, try the clone process again.
At the end of the clone, Power OFF, physically disconnect the old drive, and allow the system to try to boot up with only the new drive.

-----------------------------
Specific steps for a successful clone operation:
-----------------------------
Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power...

Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
This is to allow the system to try to boot from ONLY the SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe all partitions on it.
This will probably require the commandline diskpart function, and the clean command.

Thank you for the reply. Yes both drives are 1TB. Yes it boots just fine with the original drive. It also boots just fine with both drives in it currently. I did use Samsung migration tool as well.

I will try the steps you have provided and report back! I am a bit of a novice at this type of issue so may take me a bit :) Thanks again for your time and suggestions.

That series of steps is tried, modified, tested. Hundreds of people here have used it to good results.

The critical piece is disconnecting the old drive before the first boot up with the new drive.

Sometimes things go wrong in the cloning process. That is time to go back and try it again.
If it still fails...potential hardware issue.

Ok it worked!!! Wow! Thank you so much! You made my day! Now just to be 100% clear can you please
tell me how to do this part?

After doing that. I can just use the HDD as storage correct?

Excellent.
Assuming you've tested and it all works from the new drive, yes..wipe the old.

Yes I have tested and rebooted several times. It is working great. Thank you for the cleaning commands as well!
Have a great day and stay healthy!

Hi guys, I have a similar situation I am trying to do. I hope someone can please help me out. I am about to pull my hair out.

So I am trying to add an SSD to my laptop which has a HDD. I have installed the SSD in the optical drive. I have also cloned the HDD to the SSD using Macrium Reflect. Both drives are visible in File explorer under This PC. Now I am just trying to change the boot priority in the BIOS however the SSD doesnt show up in the BIOS anywhere. I also do not have SATA config in the BIOS. I have updated the BIOS and tried but no luck.
My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite P-50A

Anyone able to lead me in the right direction?
