i usually use HD tune to check a HD for errors when i get it. I like that it doesn't try to auto fix them like the winows default scan, and its pretty quick and easy to use. Well i have a few 3 tb and a 4 tb external HD that i was tyring to scan but they dont work. The first 2 are some Samsung D3 stations. When i plugged them in they only showed 200gb on the main screen which i found odd. I clicked scan and everything came up red. This happened on both. I plugged the 4tb hitachi touro in and the same thing happened.

The touro is recognized by windows as a 4tb it seems. At least when i click on it from the my computer screen it shows about 3.7tb which sounds about right. Any reason why HD tune isn't recognizing these? I doubt all 3 are bad, and id like to just run that to scan them. Does it just not recognize larger HDs? I am using the free version. Is there another good error scan program i can use that just SCANS them and doesnt try to repair any sectors?

Its whatever the current version is of HD tune. So that was actually my question: Does it not recognize 3tb and up/GBT partitioned drives? Id really like to use HD tune because its easy to use

and if it doesn't can someone suggest a good disk check program. Like i said i dont want something that tries fixing problems like scandisk. I want it to just report them.

ah it does, thanks. I guess i'll d.load the trial version for that to run the scans then uninstall it. Too bad the free version doesn't offer that. Still, id like to know if anyone can suggest another program that works as well as HD tune. One that doesn't just try to auto fix errors and stuff

The ones that I recommended above do not "Auto-fix".
