I want to run a 2gb 7850 on my system:

750w corsair
Intel g3220 CPU
Gigabyte ga-h81m-d2v mobo
4gb corsair vengeance

I know the CPU isn't brilliant for the job but can't afford an i5 or any other right now, this is my new build built on a budget, massive upgrade from my last. Would there be a major bottleneck with the CPU when using the card, as long as I keep the temp at a safe distance would it be OK. I did notice the g3220 was pretty much the same as an i3 without the multi threading and an i3 is apparently suitable for the card I read somewhere. Any advice is appreciated.

I think the 7850 would be fine for your system. I'm not sure if it will hold the GPU back, but having a good GPU for gaming is essential. I would rather have the best GPU that I can afford than have a good CPU and a weak GPU, especially if gaming is my #1 preference.

Thank you for the quick reply, gaming is my preference. Currently using a 4000 series amd. Can play bf3 on low res and low settings but want to enjoy games on full. Would have spent nearly £400 on my setup, could have just bought a ps3 or Xbox but there's something more rewarding with a PC build. Definitely gonna go with the 7850 then get a better CPU later to use the GPUs full potential.

Yeah the 750w Corsair PSU will power any CPU/GPU combo that you want, so you should be good to go when your upgrade your other parts. I'd personally go with the R9 270x/7870xt right now, but they are going for around $200 and I'm not sure if that is in your budget.

Currently $190 - $30 MIR + $3 shipping = $163!! Almost on par with 7950 GPU, but when OC'd it'll perform as good as 7950!
PowerColor PCS+ AX7870 2GBD5-2DHPPV3E Radeon HD 7870 MYST. Edition (Tahiti LE) 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card (UEFI Ready)

1 GB 7850 version:
$145 - $15 MIRc = $130!!!
SAPPHIRE 100355-1GOCL Radeon HD 7850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card OC Version

My budget is £200,I haven't actually got the corsair PSU yet but will be getting that along with the graphics card,PSU is about £70 so only have £130 for GPU. At the moment I have a cheap 650w aria net PSU,don't want to risk too much power going through that. Would the r9 270 demand more from my g3220 compared to the 7850? Want the best GPU my PC can handle.

The R9 270x is equivalent to the 7870, so it will demand more from the CPU, but I would buy the best CPU that you can afford. I'd also consider getting the Corsair in the 500-650w range, because that will handle just about any GPU out on the market and will free up more cash for your GPU purchase.
