Hi!
I have this issue looking to save some of my HDD Data.
A White Label [Guess is Western Digital] 4TB SATA Drive shows only on AHCI in BIOS as 0.0GB. Shows on RAID but then on Windows 7 not shown at all. IDE mode does not work...

Change SATA ports = Nothing; Change SATA Cable = Nothing; Different PWR Source = Nothing...

I used HD Sentinel an READ test passed 100%, but on the READ / WRITE mode which is non-destructive does nothing.

On Windows Disk Management shows as Drive #8, but does not allow: Drive Letter change, no MBR initialize, nor GPT...

Tried also the Drive Enclosure and does nothing on the PC as USB, nor a Win8 Laptop...

Really running out of options here 🙁 .... Any ideas???

Hi again, Jose-Rivera!

This is rather unusual, the extended test should be taking a lot longer. 🙁 I'd recommend you to check the links I've provided you with in my previous post and most importantly check the warranty for your drive here: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=Bu7PyC
If it's still covered, you should surely contact our customer support, in order to be able to proceed with the RMA-ing of your drive.
Here are the WD Contacts again: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=ex25HH

Best of luck! Hope this was helpful!

I forgot to mention that when booting Windows 7 it takes a lot of time to boot and m other SATA drives are not shown at all, BUT if I disconnect the power from the 4TB HDD, the other SATA drives start to show up on the Windows Explorer... That's a detail that could probably help a bit... Thanks!

Welcome to Tom's Hardware, Jose-Rivera!

I'm sorry to hear about your HDD. Can you be more specific about the label on the HDD or the model number? Here's a link from our KB that might be able to help you with that: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=ViTgxo
When you right-click on the HDD in Disk Management what are the available options that are not greyed out?
I'd recommend you to test it using WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostic tool to check up on the health and SMART status of the HDD. You should run the QUICK and the EXTENDED test from the utility here: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=0iGLE6
My advice would be to plug the drive internally to another desktop PC if that's possible and see how it will get detected there.

However, if nothing helps even after the swapping of the systems, I guess you should consider contacting our customer support (if the drive is Western Digital) and send your RMA request in order to be able to get a replacement. Here are a couple of useful links that might shed some light on the procedure:
How to RMA your product - http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=E1U8UL

Hope I was helpful. Keep me posted! :)
