HDD constant 100% activity, slow respons time, corrupted files

A lot of files on my hdd became corrupted, disk is constantly running at 100% (I guess that is why all files read very slow/anything I do with it takes forever). Problem occured while I was installing a program and the installation failed.

Is there a way I could fix this without formating the disk? Or does this mean that he is dying?

My hdd is toshiba hdwd120

It sounds to me like there is a great chance your disk is dying.

Ahh jaa there is no way to fix this. It is alive, but kinda "brain dead".

No.....I don't try and fix hard drives that act like that.
It's time for a new one.
