wanted to research this old drive i bought.
Hitachi SATA ii HDS721010KLA330 made in 2008.
its still sealed in its Hitachi Deskstar foil bag and reports zero hours like a new one.
but the thing heats to 58C takes 4 hours to format one tb.
its running at 53C now i download a couple hours worth.
isnt that too hot to be comfortable with?

Solution
Those old Hitachi get hot. I’ve got three 1TB models I’ve been running since about 2008/2009. They are still running well and used daily. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
