Hi Guys and Girls,

I have just taken delivery of all the parts I need for my new HTPC, running Windows XP MCE. I would like to make a Ghost image of the C:\ drive, in case anything goes wrong.

The problem I have is that the hard drive is SATA, and so is not recognised by DOS. The SATA chipset is a VIA VT8237.

What files do I need, and how do I get the boot disk to load the drivers, so I can use Ghost to image this drive?

Thanks for any help.

Exactly what have you tried up to this point? Were you successful in booting from a floppy, then running Ghost, only to have Ghost tell you that it cannot find the hard drive?

Ghost 9 and True Image 8 will backup your OS from within Windows, but if neither of their recovery CD supports your SATA controller then you are in trouble when it comes time to restore.

You would have to borrow a PC whose motherboard that lets Ghost see the SATA drives.

Mine treats the SATA drives no differently that the PATA drives.
