HDD issues in disk management

Have just built a new PC and put the OS onto my SSD, however my 3TB WD HDD isnt appearing in My Computer... After reading a few forums people have said about disk management and just selecting the first "new" option (sorry forgotten what it's called). However my HDD has split into 3.. One is 100MB reserved the second is 2TB storage and the third is 746GB.. I can activate the 2TB one but I cant seem to do anything with the 700GB one.. HELP PLEASE 😀

From what I see, when you install the OS into the SSD you don't remove the 3TB HDD, so that you got the 100MB reserved on it.

Now you are better to reinstall the OS and only connect the SSD + DVD/CD, after done the installation and connect the 3TB HDD, also make sure you update the MB BIOS so that it can support the 3TB HDD.

Back to your 746GB, maybe your MB don't support the 3TB and only 2TB like that. It maybe in GPT format, you can convert a GPT Disk to a MBR Disk.

I have a Maximus VI EXTREME so the BIOS is pretty new, there's only 1 update available... also how do I check what format it's in?? + If I may ask... The disk is making a clanking sound every few seconds... I have a feeling it could be due to fail on me because I have changed the cables and I have it connected to a 1kW PSU... any ideas?

Yeah it says healthy but I'm still not happy listening to a dull thudding sound every now and again haha, I am downloading at the mo to the HDD.. I will close everything and see what happens. 2 tics

It appears to stop when it's not in use... But in all honesty I'm certain they aren't supposed to sound like a little guy is banding to get out when it's writing something..

When you install windows on a new SSD ,don't attach the other drives till after the install is complete and updated.

MBR only supports 2TB... so I might have to check if it's in that... how'd I do that now??? xD

If you have Seagate HDD, then you can use "DiscWizard" for Disk Drives Beyond 2.2 TB.

Or you re-install the OS like I said before, when you install the OS you only connect the SSD and DVD drive only. Not other regular HDD. After that you can connect the regular HDD back and format the HDD to see you can use the whole 3TB space.

WD (Western Digital) and the probles was to do with GPT and MBT formats ( or whatever they're called) and Support also said it could be that. Sent it back anyway, was clunking when it read or wrote things and the guy just flat out said send it back haha, will solve this when a new one arrives !

My disk was formatted into MBR instead of GPT, and that clanking was a faulty (and soon to fail) HDD, BE AWARE PEOPLE ! 😀
