I think you ether damaged it, or it has something on it. I like using Avast, but you could also try reinstall windows, or using DBAN to delete everything. It takes a while after deleting everything to download the games again, but it cleans up the system and old data.

Hey there, Jamall!

I'm sorry to hear about your issues with the drive! Unfortunately, it seems like you are dealing with some sort of physical damage or at least that's what the HDD noises might indicate. My recommendation would be to test the drive's health and SMART status using the HDD manufacturer's diagnostic tool. I saw the Western Digital tag in your thread, so I guess you should download Data LifeGuard Diagnostics to do this. Just make sure you run the QUICK and the EXTENDED test from the utility here: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=XuqFyI
Here's a KB article that explains how to perform the tests: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=pFf7WX
Another thing I'd suggest you to do is to check the warranty of your hard drive here: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=7wqWN4

Keep me posted with the SMART results!
