HDD making loud humming noise

I built my PC about a month ago and have had no problems until now. My HDD makes a loud and annoying humming noise at start up but stops when windows loads and windows is installed on a SSD. My HDD is a Western Digital Black Series 2TB. Any solutions to this problem are appreciated.

I have a few platter-driven external HDs that also hum during startup, most of the time, the humming goes away after awhile. I'm going to listen in and learn alongside you.

How securely is it mounted in the case?
And everything else. Any loose screws...even a little bit?

I checked and everything is secured, but the noise is now gone somehow.

I hope you have been making, and you're continuing to make, routine restorable full image backups of your OS and Data partitions onto trusted reliable external media.

i seen this in some reviews of western digital hard drives where it is noisy when first using it but goes away after runnign for some time. it has something to do with a feature they add to their drives called "intelliseek" that Calculates optimum seek speeds to lower power consumption, noise and vibration.
