I'm getting a GA-8IHXP motherboard and p4 2ghz+, and wondered which would be best?

assuming you dont want raid and cant afford a SCSI drive, i reccomend the Western Digital 800JB. (make sure its a JB and not a BB)

i got a WD 100gb with 8mb in VM, it's that good?

<b><font color=red>JB</b></font color=red> is Special Edition with 8MB cache when <b><font color=red>BB</b></font color=red> only has 2MB.

Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.

BB = 2Mb cache = decent, but nothing special
JB = BB-SE = 8Mb cache = Alot better! higher performance

the JB also comes in a number of sizes...
800JB 80Gb
1000JB 100Gb
1200JB 120Gb
1800JB 180Gb
2000JB 200Gb

the 180 and 200Gb drives have just been released, so are pretty rare.
