Hi, I have a old i3 3220 system with stock OEM Dell motherboard and I wish to upgrade to a i5 4th gen. I found a used i5 4570,Asus b85m-g, 2x4gb ram,1th HDD and a bequiet CPU cooler. For around USD $200 , is it worth it?
I installed most of my games in my HDD and while my os and some AAA is in my ssd.

Based on my understanding, I have to format my ssd and reinstall windows 10 in the it build? Can I keep my HDD as it is? Will windows 10 in the i5 detect the installed games in the HDD which was installed in the i3 system?

the savegame folder usually is on users folder, inside your user folder, some games put savegames in documents folder, each game does different that, not unified process

the savegames is just copy and paste to the right folder in your documents folder, or wherever they should go

you can copy the entire user folder and paste the user you need to restore, that way everything you had on desktop will be on desktop, what was on downloads will remain there, same for documents, images, videos and the rest of personal folders

reinstall games, the ones who save to internet like gta v, will not need you to save anything, same for other g¿online games, what could be lost is keyboard and gamepad configuration, that most times or is saved on the...
if i'm reading that right, the i5 will not work because it is made for a different socket, lga 1150, you have lga 1155 so if i understood you want to change also the motherboard and ram

the problem with cases form dell, hp and similar manufacturers is that they often use a custon size mainboard with a specia shape or a special frontend for a special mainboard or that uses a special psu

is easier to build a entirely new pc and leave the old pc as it is as a plan b, or sell it

about windows, it is usually a good idea to format it after you did backups of your important files and then install again, often a new motherboard means a new windows license, sometimes you can migrate the old windows license but is not guaranteed to work

sorry if my post wasn't clear.
so basically, I have a old i3 system and I bought a used i5 system. I wanted to ask if I can reuse the hdd which contains my games, without reinstall it again in my i5 system. I did a clean windows 10 install on my ssd, but control panel and windows does not detect my installed games. however I can find my games folders in my hdd

you can try that but is not guaranteed to work properly, what is guaranteed to work properly is install a clean windows version

if your games are from steam you can generate a backup that can be added again to steam, also you can save the user folder, it contains the saved games and many other stuff like desktop, downloads, pictures and that sort of stuff

i you don't want to make the backup, you can take the library out of the hard disk, is just copy the steamapps folder from steam

if is ubisoft there is a similar trick, ea origin should have something like that too

later when you reinstall you just tell those 3 to add a folder containing games so you don't have to download them again, it does work, i have done it with steam 3 times this year

if the games are not from steam, reinstall them, windows will not search and detect to add games on folders, you need to reinstall them

if I reinstall my games, will windows detect and uses my saved processes? or will my game processes?
