Question HDD Starts up, then stops and won't show up

I have a 2TB HDD. It starts up, makes some noise, then stops and won't show up in disk utility. I don't know much about driver recovery, so I don't know where to start.

HDD: Seagate Barracuda, Model: ST2000DM001
File System: NTFS

It's dead. Not user recoverable.
Seek professional data recovery services and prepare your wallet.
This will be expensive.

How does it show up in a SMART report? I suspect it will report a capacity of 3.86GB, which is symptomatic of an inability to reach the System Area (SA) on the platters. That's where the firmware is stored. In short, the drive appears to have an internal fault, ie heads, media or firmware.

I don't know much about driver recovery, so I don't know where to start.

Invent a time machine.
Go back to before the drive failed.
Start a series of automated backups.

A HDD works with mechanical parts. If the parts are no longer moving properly, there's no way to read the drive. A professional can open it and make everything temporary spin again to extract the files (if you attempt that yourself you will most likely destroy it for good).
