hey guys, I have a problem with my transfer speed. it doesn't go above 40MBps from and to external HDD

my intern HDD is 7200RPM
my extern is 5400RPM
my motherboard is Asrock Z170 Extreme 4 with sata 3

and the weird thing is ,if the problem is the bottleneck of 5400RPM on my extern, I got my extern work fine with my laptop it transferred speed even above 100MBps

and the only problem in my mind is lack of software with my asrock MotherBoard. I don't know whether I need driver or not for the sata 3, if so please tell me what's the name of it

thank you

So, the ports on the back are working just fine right?
If this is the case and only your USB 3.0 ports on the front panel do not work properly, then there may be something wrong with the front panel.

If both the front and the back USB 3.0 ports can't go more than 40MBps, then you can contact MOBO's Support on that. They should be able to help out.

Hi there Jemmy_,

It sounds like a driver related issue.
You need to go to the MOBO's manufacturer website and update the USB 3.0 drivers.
You get slow transfer speeds on all USB ports right? I assume that you've tried using the ones on the back of the computer case.
Have you tried to transfer a single large file?

it does seems you're right about driver related probs, caused I've tried my I/O on the back it can transfer file above 40MBps, and the only problem is I don't know what is the driver, I've tried all driver including Intel INF, Intel management engine, rapid storage in asrock websites for my mobo type and it's all useless

or if the driver related solutions is wrong I assume my mobo is defect product and to to RMA procedure.., i hope that's not the problem cause everything works fine except the speed of front usb 3.0
