Question HDD with slow speed

Hi, I have two HDDs SATA 6gb on my desktop. 1 TB and 2 TB. Toshiba and Seagate respectively. I'm using Windows Pro 11 22H2. When I transfer let's say 2gb or 5gb, larger transfers, the transfer starts fast with normal speed like between 300 and 400 Mbps, but then the speed starts to decrease a lot, and the transfer freezes for a while then comes back, but the speeds almost never shows around 250 or 300 Mbps again. Why is this happening. The motherboard is an ASUS TUF X570 Gaming Plus BR with a Ryzen 9 3900X and 64 gb of Ram DDR4 3200 mhz. Thanks

Maybe transfering many small files, or the HDD have little free space left.

Also, you may read cache speed at start instead of actual transfer rate onto the magnetic disk.

Yes, the percieved performance probably decreases drastically at that little amount of free space.
