HDD won't work in W7 due to drivers

I just got everything put together tonight and went to install W7 and it says I need to format my HDD. So I click Format and then W7 tells me I need to install the media drivers. I don't have any drivers for the HDD its an OEM. I don't understand. Its a HDD, format it.

Can someone help me out here?

XP is the one that doesn't have AHCI drivers on disc; Vista and 7 have support built-in.

That's really strange that it would ask for drivers for it. Can you list your specs?

Vista and 7 have some support built in. They do not include every driver for every RAID controller made.

AMD Gigabyte MA790FX-UD5P, Seagate 7200.12

My board runs IDE native. It uses SATA in IDE Native on the BIOS. Its strange but thats how it runs. I have used a RAID form and AHCI. IDE Native is the only one that allows my DVD to boot W7.

I'm using only SATA cables, just to clarify.

I just tried again. I click format disk and tells me this:

"Check to see that the disk and drive are connected properly, make sure the drive is not read only."

The HDD registers on my BIOS. I'm not sure if its labeled read and write, I assume it is. The SATA cable and SATA power are connected.

Did you create a partition first before attempting to format it? A partition is required before formating.

IDE mode on a SATA controller simply refers to the fact that the controller will not load the AHCI drivers to enable some additional features for the harddrives including NCQ (Native Command Queuing) and Hot plugging. Not having these features turned on is not the end of the world.
